The MCA has successfully run a ward based improvement collaborative starting in April 2015. The aim of the collaborative was to support 5 to 6 wards at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals to improve care for the patients they serve by March 2016.

The Ward Collaborative's aim was to help wards improve their processes and learn some quality improvement methodology along the way. It comprises of one experienced coach from the MCA linking with MCA coaches in training to support the ward through an improvement process week to week, and then bringing teams together on a number of occasions over the 12 months to share learning & to learn about improvement methodology, hear examples of good practice etc. The ward collaborative final event was held on 8 March 2016. Over 60 staff attended this event with guest speaker Roy Lilley. The wards below presented their stories:
