The Excellent Emergency Care (EEC) programme aims to ensure that patients within Sheffield Teaching Hospitals (STH) receive urgent and emergency care which is responsive, effective and personalised.

We do this by supporting teams to enhance patient experience and reduce delays.

We collaborate with them to develop and embed innovative and improved ways of working. This ensures every patient has a clear care plan and that it's delivered, every day.

SAFER

Through our SAFER programme we work with ward teams to develop initiatives that ensure our patients receive consistent, quality care at all times. This includes work to reduce patient waiting times and improve the discharge process.

Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC)

Our recently implemented SDEC service enables more patients to go home the same day, reducing the number of unnecessary overnight stays.

Single assessment

We are working with teams to reduce the number of times a patient has to repeat their story as part of the triage or admission process. This should lower patient waiting times, reduce duplication and save staff time.
